We have a new member !

Today I am gushing with pride. Why you ask? Because we actually have a new member. Im not going to post her name here , but in the future I do want to do a kind of members page for the web site that will post like a picture and everybody's first name . I want to avoid a repeat of what we had on meetup.com . I want everyone to know everyone so that we can truly bond as a group.

So my work with the website is finally paying off, and I am glad to announce that flyers will be going up as well. Im still after our old group members so im hoping that will let them know that were still on.

Hi sorry for being away so long, but I came back with good news. The website for Baltimore Free Writers is finally up. You can see it here:

Be sure to visit and email me with what you think about it. I'm still trying to get the word out about our writing group, and I am holding fast to our June meetup date. I am trying to post as many flyers about the group being back together. Im posting in libraries only so far so if you know another place let me know and I will print more flyers and check it out.

Status of Flyer

Hi. Sorry about the delay between postings, but I have been trying to get the flyer for Baltimore free writers that I made up on the bulletin board at the library. Im hoping that it will bring in the members that we lost due to our move from meetup. I want to have our first meetup in June so I've been trying to make sure that we would have some people there when it happens.

The website for bfw is almost done. I've been looking around for content, and trying to come up with some new articles to post to the site so that it will really be able to embrace our group. I hope that it and our first meetup will be a success.

By the way im looking to have our fist meetup either in may or June depending on how things go with finding people to join. If I start getting people who want to join this month then i'll do it this month but if not, i'll probably move it up to June I want to do it this month, but the truth is that we have no people yet. We will need to get our numbers back up first and get at least a 5 confirmed people to show up. Im hoping for the best.

The Flyer

Well I went to the library today and I took the flyer with me. I submitted it to the staff for approval and I'm hoping that it passes. The only thing is that I forgot to scan it in and post it here first. Hopefully the rest of you will get to see it in the library. Im trying to think of some other places where it might be seen. Oddly enough you can't just put a flyer anywhere, most places want you to get permission, so my next stop. The post office or maybe the market, I don't know.

Im open to suggestions

My newest scheme for getting back our old members

In conjunction with the web site (which is coming along great !) I'm thinking of posting flyer's just to see who will answer. We may get some new people, but I'm sure that a lot of our old members are still in the Reisterstown area and will pick up on the fact that our little group is back together if we advertise a little. The only question is where to post? Im thinking the library. Still I'll post the flyer here first so the people following this can get to see it first.

When we meet

I still want our group to meet on the 3rd Wendsday of each month . That way we can avoid any further confusion as far as meeting dates go.

The website is coming along great were going to have an online calendar that will post the date of each of our meetups. If you are concerned about security don't worry. While I want our group to be open to all I want to go with the original plan and not have our location known unless the person joins the group. Im arranging this by putting a form up on our finished site that will ask the persons name, and email address. I want this form to then send their information to baltimorefreewriters@gmail.com so that I can then respond to them with the location of our meetups. It's just a small security measure, but im sure that it will work in the longrun.

Im also hoping that this blog will show up to anyone who may search online so that we can get some of our old members back that way. They may be searching for new writing groups via google, and I hope that they see this blog before they leave us.

Well that's it for now. I am going to try to post here daily so be sure to tune in and follow along. The main site should be up as soon as possible.

The Writing Group

For those of you who have just found this blog. I am going to be organizing our group now that Stephanie has stepped down as leader. I plan to meet in our usual place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. I also plan to have a full website ready as soon as possible so that our group will have it's own place on the web.

I plan on doing whatever I can to keep our group going if you have any questions or suggestions or if you are new and want to join this group you can email me at baltimorefreewriters@gmail.com.
