Lots and Lots of updates

Today I updated BFW's main site, set up the newsletter for the writing group and now i am here making our blog match our website . Lots of work to do at once, but worth it. Im hoping that everyone will accept the newsletter. I 've been wanting to do it for a while to keep everyone on the same page, and it is finally comming to furition . Not everyone remembers to check the calendars, and sometimes the invitations don't go out to the last minute.

Just in case you didn't hear. There won't be a meetup in December. And our next meetup is on January 20, 2010

Im hoping that someone shows and that the newsletter will be a success, maybe I can even rustle up some new members. Everyone seems nervous about joining.

BFW writing prompts go to strange new places

Now instead of boring and repetitive writing prompts I have introduced writing prompts that involve objects. Think about it, what is the most unusual object in your house? How did you come by it? Sit down and take a moment to step outside of what you know it to be and think of what it could be. Now you're writing!

BFW has a new member

Well even though I forgot my writing prompts the writing group still went well . I even got a new member and a chance to order a new book. New books always make me happy, and the fact that the writing group went well makes me even happier.

I still however need to look into getting more members and advertising at colleges is a good idea. (Lauretta suggested it) so I hope to put that into effect soon. Im thinking about Strayer since it's practically around the corner from me.

Now if I could just come up with some way for people to RSVP. Well on to evite.

A Happy Happy July

Hello . Baltimore Free Writers is alive, kicking and meeting this Wednesday. I hope that everyone will be there and that everything will go well . I am also interested in doing poetry (which would probably take some advertising to do), but all in all i am excited about Baltimore Free writers and what we have been doing. The site is updated and i am still working on the RSVP feature, but I'm hoping that will come out better and be something that will be useful.

Got another new member, Information about meetups

Hello everyone I am going to upload the newest changes to BFW website today. They should include a form where you can RSVP at meeting so now well know how many members are coming . I also put in a widgets feature of one of my favorite groups just to share with everyone what I listen to while I think up those writing prompts that we use.

BTW last weeks meeting went great (even though I was late) and I want to thank our hostess at Constellation Bookstore for letting us meet at her place. Hopefully next month we will have several new members, and I will be on time. I heard that we originally had more members, but they left so to them I extend the invitation to come again to our little writing group.

Another New Member

Greetings everyone I am happy to say that we have another new member who is looking forward to this Wednesday. I think that what I will do is to have a guestbook available so that everyone who comes can sign in. Nothing big just their names and email addresses so that we can keep track of who's coming to each meeting.

I still want to put a password protected members area on the site, and let everyon put up a picture of themselves along with their email addresses, but I doubt if I will put it on the table at our first meetup. I want everyone to get comfortable with each other first and then we can concentrate on getting to know one another.

I know that I was surprised when I first read it. Our little writing group mentioned in the baltimore sun ? I was so shocked. But im glad because it may lead to some of our old members returning.

We already have one confirmed member and a second member showing intrest in joining, but she is a little shy hopefully I can get her to join by the 17th which is our first meetup since our little change in leadership. But hopefully they will remember us and return.

Hello everyone. This is my first post since we found our newest member, and I hope that everyone is listening. It's one week before our big June 17 meetup and I have just updated our calendar to reflect the change . The calendar doesn't show our location, but I am sure that it will draw in more members that may have been doubtful of us in the past.

Well that is the latest news on BFW! I hope that everyone will be there on June 17. I have some really neat writing prompts on hand and im sure that it will be a blast.

We have a new member !

Today I am gushing with pride. Why you ask? Because we actually have a new member. Im not going to post her name here , but in the future I do want to do a kind of members page for the web site that will post like a picture and everybody's first name . I want to avoid a repeat of what we had on meetup.com . I want everyone to know everyone so that we can truly bond as a group.

So my work with the website is finally paying off, and I am glad to announce that flyers will be going up as well. Im still after our old group members so im hoping that will let them know that were still on.

I am trying to post as many flyers about the group being back together. Im posting in libraries only so far so if you know another place let me know and I will print more flyers and check it out.

Status of Flyer

Hi. Sorry about the delay between postings, but I have been trying to get the flyer for Baltimore free writers that I made up on the bulletin board at the library. Im hoping that it will bring in the members that we lost due to our move from meetup. I want to have our first meetup in June so I've been trying to make sure that we would have some people there when it happens.

The website for bfw is almost done. I've been looking around for content, and trying to come up with some new articles to post to the site so that it will really be able to embrace our group. I hope that it and our first meetup will be a success.

By the way im looking to have our fist meetup either in may or June depending on how things go with finding people to join. If I start getting people who want to join this month then i'll do it this month but if not, i'll probably move it up to June I want to do it this month, but the truth is that we have no people yet. We will need to get our numbers back up first and get at least a 5 confirmed people to show up. Im hoping for the best.

The Flyer

Well I went to the library today and I took the flyer with me. I submitted it to the staff for approval and I'm hoping that it passes. The only thing is that I forgot to scan it in and post it here first. Hopefully the rest of you will get to see it in the library. Im trying to think of some other places where it might be seen. Oddly enough you can't just put a flyer anywhere, most places want you to get permission, so my next stop. The post office or maybe the market, I don't know.

Im open to suggestions

My newest scheme for getting back our old members

In conjunction with the web site (which is coming along great !) I'm thinking of posting flyer's just to see who will answer. We may get some new people, but I'm sure that a lot of our old members are still in the Reisterstown area and will pick up on the fact that our little group is back together if we advertise a little. The only question is where to post? Im thinking the library. Still I'll post the flyer here first so the people following this can get to see it first.

When we meet

I still want our group to meet on the 3rd Wendsday of each month . That way we can avoid any further confusion as far as meeting dates go.

The website is coming along great were going to have an online calendar that will post the date of each of our meetups. If you are concerned about security don't worry. While I want our group to be open to all I want to go with the original plan and not have our location known unless the person joins the group. Im arranging this by putting a form up on our finished site that will ask the persons name, and email address. I want this form to then send their information to baltimorefreewriters@gmail.com so that I can then respond to them with the location of our meetups. It's just a small security measure, but im sure that it will work in the longrun.

Im also hoping that this blog will show up to anyone who may search online so that we can get some of our old members back that way. They may be searching for new writing groups via google, and I hope that they see this blog before they leave us.

Well that's it for now. I am going to try to post here daily so be sure to tune in and follow along. The main site should be up as soon as possible.

The Writing Group

For those of you who have just found this blog. I am going to be organizing our group now that Stephanie has stepped down as leader. I plan to meet in our usual place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. I also plan to have a full website ready as soon as possible so that our group will have it's own place on the web.

Baltimore Free Writers has moved

Hi. If you're looking for the baltimore free writers writing group you have found it. There has been some changes and we have moved off of meetup.com due to the cost.
